Weekly Journal: Week 3

Sunday:

Since it was the weekend and I had no classes, I decided to take the day to just relax and recharge. I did a bit of revision, but nothing too intense—just enough to keep up with my studies without stressing myself out. Most of the day, I just chilled, watching a lot of YouTube videos to pass the time. It felt good to have a slow day, especially after a busy week. Sometimes, just taking it easy is exactly what you need.

Monday:

The week started off with an early morning math class, where we began a new chapter on arguments. It was interesting but also required a lot of logical thinking. After that, we had Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) class, where we were introduced to arrays of objects. We learned how to create, understand, and instantiate them properly, which was a bit tricky at first, but once I got the hang of it, it started to make sense.

In the evening, I took some time to step away from everything and watch the sunset. There’s something about seeing the sky change colors that just makes life’s worries feel a little smaller. It was peaceful, and for a moment, I was able to let go of the stress of assignments and deadlines. It was a great way to wrap up the day.

Tuesday:

In the morning, there was a Hangout Club Fair on campus. I went there around noon and saw a lot of cool performances. There were live bands playing, some students showcasing traditional dances, and even a few booths where people were doing magic tricks and freestyle rapping. The energy was really lively, and it was fun just walking around, seeing the different clubs promoting their activities. It was tempting to join a few, but I wasn’t sure if I’d have the time to commit.

Later in the afternoon, I had my System Analysis and Design (SAD) class at 3 PM. We covered project management and how it plays a role throughout the system development cycle. It made me realize how much planning and structure go into creating a fully functional system—it’s not just about coding. Right after that, from 4 to 6 PM, I had Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) class, where we focused on interface design. It was interesting to see how user experience (UX) plays a role in software development.

In the evening, my housemates and I went to a nearby food stall for dinner. The food was great, and we had a lot of fun just chatting and joking around. It’s always nice to take a break from studies and just enjoy simple moments like these.

Wednesday:

Since I had no physical classes today, I had a slow morning. I used the extra time to work on this blog assignment and, of course, watch some YouTube videos in between.

Around noon, I went out with some of my housemates to grab lunch near our campus. After eating, one of them needed a haircut, so we waited with him at the barbershop. The place was packed, so he had to wait a while, but we didn’t mind—we just hung out and talked. Later, we went to a nearby convenience store to grab a few items

By the time we got back home, it was around 3 PM, and we decided to hit the gym in our condo. It was a solid workout session, and afterward, we cooled off by heading to the condo’s pool. We ended up staying there for quite a while, just talking about random things, from classwork to life in general. It was a great way to unwind.

Later in the evening, I had to work on my Data Communication assignment, focusing on key concepts related to networking. Overall, it was a productive but enjoyable day.

Thursday:

In the morning, I had SAD class, where we worked on network diagrams. A network diagram is basically a visual representation of a system’s architecture, showing how different devices and components connect. It’s useful in system analysis because it helps identify bottlenecks and optimize data flow. Learning how to create one was really insightful, and I can see how it plays a huge role in IT projects.

After that, we had OOP class, where we did exercises on arrays of objects. It was mostly hands-on practice, which helped reinforce what we learned earlier in the week.

In the afternoon, I decided to watch the movie Fight Club. I had heard so much about it, and I finally got the chance to sit down and experience it myself. The movie was wild—the themes of identity, masculinity, and rebellion were intense. The way it played with reality vs. illusion really messed with my head in the best way possible. By the end, I was just sitting there, processing everything. I could see why it became such a cult classic.

Friday:

The morning started with Data Communication class, where we learned about transmission media. We covered the different types of wired and wireless communication, like fiber optics, coaxial cables, and radio waves. Each had its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of speed, reliability, and cost. It was interesting to see how the internet and network infrastructures we rely on daily are actually built.

Since I only had one class today, I finished early, so my housemates and I decided to go to KLCC. We took the train, which took around 30 minutes and required us to change stations twice.

Once we arrived, the first place we went to was Kinokuniya, the famous Japanese bookstore. I was beyond excited—there was so much manga! Some of my favorites were there, like Vagabond, One-Punch Man, Sakamoto Days, and Kaoru Hana, plus new releases like Kagurabachi, which just started in late 2023. I could’ve spent hours just looking through everything.

After spending quite a bit of time there, we headed home in the afternoon. At 3 PM, I had online math class, where we continued the chapter on arguments, covering topics like negation, conjunction, disjunction, and conditionals. It was a lot of logic-based concepts, but I enjoyed it.

Saturday:

Today was a slow, lazy day. I didn’t have much to do, so I spent most of my time reading comics and watching YouTube. It felt nice to just relax without worrying about assignments or deadlines. I also did a bit of homework, but nothing too intense. Some days, you just need a break, and today was one of those days.

Summary of the week:

This week was a mix of studying, fun, and relaxation. Sunday was a chill day with YouTube and some revision. Monday started with new lessons in math and OOP, ending with a peaceful sunset.

Tuesday was exciting with the Hangout Club Fair and classes on project management and interface design. In the evening, I had dinner with my housemates. Wednesday was more relaxed, with some blog work, a gym and pool session, and Data Communication studies.

Thursday focused on network diagrams and OOP exercises. I also watched Fight Club, which left a strong impression on me. Friday was a short school day, so my housemates and I went to KLCC and explored Kinokuniya, enjoying all the manga.

Saturday was a lazy day—just comics, YouTube, and some homework. Overall, it was a balanced week of learning, fun, and downtime.
